Episode 252 is a linkshow. Per and James discuss two articles that have grabbed their attention – We discuss a number of serious issues that the design industry faces plus we take a look at “Stories” and their abundance.
Article one is Undoing the Toxic Dogmatism of Digital Design by Lisa Angela. “I’ve talked to too many of my peers who recognize that something is wrong and want to help but don’t know where to start. And I’ve heard from more than enough young designers who are genuinely lost and blaming themselves for it that I can’t just watch it continue any longer. They deserve better from those of us who have been doing this work for decades and have been actively forging the path for those who follow.”
Our second article is Spotify adds Stories, but is there any value to them? by Michael Beausoleil. “While Snapchat laid the groundwork for stories, it seems Instagram brought the stories into mass popularity. Within a matter of months, Instagram Stories surpassed Snapchat Stories in popularity. Instagram allowed the format of disappearing stories to fully blossom, and of course marketers took notice. Over half a billion users view stories daily, so the potential is massive.”
